It is time for the Conway County Care Center’s annual Harvest of Hope Food Drive. We are asking for you to join hands with us to keep this ministry thriving. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of needy people by supporting the Care Center’s mission: “No one in Conway County goes hungry.”
The Care Center began because the work to feed the needy was done by individual churches, and no one church could handle all the needs of the community. For the past 29 years, the Care Center has been faithful to meet individuals and families at their point of need. The combined support of churches, individuals, and government allowed us to serve over 3,600 households with over 9,200 people last year. Our purchased food, not counting food donations, is approaching $4,500 per month, not including the short-term assistance we provide to those in special, extreme situations. The need for food and assistance in our area is at an all-time high. The Care Center’s food pantry is available to all residents of Conway County, regardless of income. A majority of the Care Center’s resources come from community supporters like you. Through the Harvest of Hope Food Drive, the generosity of businesses and individuals in Conway County typically supplies our food pantry with four months of food. On October 20, plans include a full day of gathering food to help meet the needs of the Conway County Care Center. Non-perishable food items will be collected to help “Fill the Truck” at Haynes Home Center (4 Davis Drive near Kroger in Morrilton) on Saturday, October 20 from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. We will gladly accept monetary gifts in lieu of food if you so choose. We accept checks, or you can donate online via credit or debit card at www.conwaycountycarecenter.com. You’re welcome to deliver your collected items between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the Care Center Thrift Store located at 108 West Broadway in downtown Morrilton. Items may also be delivered on Saturday, October 20 at the “Fill the Truck” event in front of Haynes Home Center. If you cannot deliver your donations or if you have any questions, please call the Care Center at 354-1454 or contact Leann Haynes at 208-3560. Please do not leave donations unattended at the Care Center. With much prayer and deliberation, the Care Center Board of Directors has spent the past few months aiming to refocus the Care Center on serving the people of Conway County, both through the tangible support that the center is able to provide to those in need as well as by serving up a heaping helping of kindness and compassion to all who reach out to us. We hope that every person who goes to the Care Center leaves there having had a positive experience, whether they are there to shop, to receive food, or to make a donation. In time, we plan to expand volunteer opportunities, once again making the Care Center a place where people in our community can participate in helping others who are in need. Exciting things continue to happen at the Care Center, and we are so blessed to have a community of people who support our mission to ensure that no one in Conway County goes hungry.
